26 May Wedding Vows that honor Nature – Example
This is an example of some vows written by an officiant. Some parts have been removed that were written just for the couple.
We are gathered here today to unite this man and this woman in marriage, which is a union founded in nature and in love, honesty, truth and understanding.
<Groom> and <Bride>, let the winds of the heavens dance between you in your togetherness.
Honor all that the creator has made, as you pledge your hearts and lives together.
Honor Earth, that your marriage be abundant and grow stronger through the seasons.
Honor Fire, that your union be warm and glowing with love in your hearts.
Honor the Wind, that you sail through life safe and calm.
Honor Water to clean and soothe your relationship, that it may never thirst for love.
With all the forces of the universe, may harmony and true happiness be yours.
<Groom> and <Bride>, have you come here freely and without reservation to give yourselves to each other in marriage?
<Groom> and <Bride>:
Officiant (reads vows and <Groom> repeats after me):
<Groom>, repeat after me. Â I, <Groom>, take thee, <Bride>, to be my wedded wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to my hand, my heart, and my spirit, through all our years, and in all that life may bring us.
Officiant (reads vows and <Bride> repeats after me):
<Bride>, repeat after me. Â I, <Bride>, take thee, <Groom>, to be my wedded husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to my hand, my heart, and my spirit, through all our years, and in all that life may bring us.
Surrounded by life, we are met together, to witness and to bless the union of these two spirits. May they be a blessing and comfort each to the other, sharers of each others’ joys and sorrows, in all the chances and changes of the world. In perfect love and peace may they ever keep themselves, fulfilling in their very being the laws of creative life.
Inasmuch as <Groom> and <Bride> have consented together in marriage, declaring their love for one another, I declare that they are now husband and wife. May their days be long upon the earth and may they dwell in love and joy and happiness together. You may kiss.
<Groom> and <Bride> kiss, then turn to the audience.
Friends and family, I now present to you the family of <Groom> and <Bride> (last name).
